Made to win over even the most devoted meat-lovers, this savory creation is unbelievably delicious and has all the protein and iron of beef, but with zero milligrams of cholesterol and no antibiotics or animal hormones.

Let’s face it, Impossible Foods and Fairway are a natural pair. After all, we started as the city’s premier place to buy the freshest fruits and vegetables, so it only makes sense that we should be one of the first places on the east coast where you can buy this miracle that tastes and cooks like beef. In the words of Fairway CEO, Abel Porter, selling “the world’s hottest plant-based food harks back to our roots.”

And it isn’t just made for burgers. It swaps out seamlessly with any of your favorite meat-based recipes. This was demonstrated during our media kick-off event at our 74th Street café with Impossible Foods Founder & CEO, Pat Brown, as well as Impossible Foods’s Executive Chef, J. Michael, who prepared Impossible™ Street Tacos, lettuce wraps, and – yes – burgers.

  • 1 12oz-Package(S) IMPOSSIBLE™ BURGER
  • 1/2 Each Red Onion
  • 4 Clove(S) Garlic
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cumin
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Coriander
  • 1 Teaspoon Sweet Paprika
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Ancho Chile Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
  • 3/4 Pound(S) Tomatillos
  • 1 Each Yellow Onion
  • 1 Each Jalapeno
  • 2 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Bunch(Es) Cilantro
  • 1/4 Cup Rice Vinegar
  • 2 Each Limes
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 6 Each Tortillas
  • 1 To Taste Salt And Pepper

5 Easy Steps:


Mince the red onion and 3 cloves of garlic. Combine with the Impossible™ Burger and spices and mix until well combined in a bowl. Place the mixture in a pan on medium heat and stir until meat is seared brown and cooked through. Add salt and pepper to taste. Remove pan from heat and set aside.


Cut the yellow onion in two. Set aside one half and slice the other. Toss the tomatillos, sliced onion, jalapeno, and remaining clove of garlic in a bowl with olive oil and salt. Place an empty sheet tray into a 450F oven until hot. Pull the hot sheet tray out of the oven and quickly spread out the oiled & salted vegetables. Place back in the oven and roast for approximately 15 minutes, or until all the vegetables are charred. Remove and let cool.


Add cooled, roasted vegetables to a blender. Add rice vinegar, lime juice, and water and blend until well combined. Add ½ the bunch of cilantro and blend for an additional 15 seconds. Add salt to taste.


Dice the remaining half of the yellow onion and finely chop the remaining cilantro. Slice the remaining lime into wedges and warm the tortillas (flour or corn). Assemble each taco by topping a tortilla with Impossible™ Taco Meat and garnishing with onion, cilantro, and Salsa Verde. Squeeze a lime wedge over the top for an added tang.


Makes six tacos.
