Our suggestions for your new in-house cocktail base:

Vodka + Pickles

Mix four parts vodka with one part pickle juice. Cut a fresh pickle from Fairway’s world-class olive bar into spears and let sit in vodka for three days. Strain and serve ice cold over rocks or add to your favorite Bloody Mary mix. Make sure you keep the pickle spears to use as a garnish!

Vodka + Ginger

1 cup of roughly chopped unpeeled ginger is all you need to add to one liter of your favorite vodka and let sit for one week. Strain and combine with apple cider and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Vodka + Coffee Beans

Roughly crush one cup of co ee beans and add to one liter of vodka. Let sit for seven days and strain with cheesecloth. Strain and mix with co ee for an afternoon (or morning) pick-me- up!

Gin + Cranberries

Take one pound of cranberries, pierce each one, and add to one liter of gin. If you want to add a bit more complexity, add a handful of orange peels. Leave for seven days. Strain and use with your favorite tonic and garnish with a sprig of thyme for a festive holiday cocktail.

Bourbon + Apples + Cinnamon

This one is a bit more complex than the others, but still easy. Slice up five granny smith apples, combine with five cinnamon sticks, three vanilla beans, and 1⁄2 teaspoon of cloves. Add to a liter of bourbon and let sit for about two weeks. Strain and serve over ice.

Bourbon + Peach + Pecan

Peel and dice six peaches. Add the peaches and two hefty handfuls of pecans to one liter of bourbon. Let sit for seven days, strain and serve over ice in a beautiful glass garnished with a peach peel.
