Fairway Hot Creole Crab Dip

Let New Orleans come to you! This dip can be made the night before; simply top with Fairway breadcrumbs and chives just before baking. This dip pairs perfectly with Fairway Tortilla Chips and Fairway Crostinis, plus sliced peppers are also a great dipping choice! Be sure to scoop this dip into multiple serving bowls as this recipe will surely gather in the guests.

Fairway Hot Creole Crab Dip

Prep Time: 30 minutes; Cook Time: 30 minutes; Serves: 12 (serving size: ¼ cup)

Ingredients:

  • Cooking spray
  • 2 tbsps minced shallots
  • 1 tsp minced garlic (can always use Fairway pre-minced garlic)
  • 1 lb lump crabmeat, shell pieces removed, divided
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tbsp Fairway Hot Chili Sauce
  • 2 tsp Fairway Creole Spice
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup minced red bell pepper (½ to 1 pepper)
  • 2 tbsps lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp Fairway Salt and Pepper (each)
  • 3 tbsps Fairway Breadcrumbs (plain or herbed)
  • 3 tbsps fresh chives, minced

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Heat a small saucepan over medium heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add shallots and garlic to pan; cook for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Place 1 cup crab in a food processor. Add the shallot mixture, 1/4 cup water, Fairway Chili Sauce, and Fairway Creole Spice to crab; process until smooth. Spoon mixture into a large bowl, and stir in remaining crab, mayonnaise, cream cheese, bell pepper, lemon juice, Fairway salt and pepper.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a 1-quart glass or ceramic casserole dish coated lightly with cooking spray. Sprinkle Fairway Breadcrumbs and minced chives on top of crab mixture; spray cooking spray on dip. Bake at 450°F for 30 minutes or until browned and bubbly. Let stand 5 minutes.
