Sweet, tender Florida Stone Crab claws are a true delicacy, a total treat. Haven’t tried them? Here’s your big chance to change that. Head to your Fairway Market seafood counter and take some home today. Your taste buds will thank you!
The Season is NOW!
Now’s the time that these gorgeous gifts of the sea are caught wild off the Florida coast. We buy direct from Florida fishermen…that means you’re getting sky-high quality and big savings.
A Sustainable Treat
Stone Crab is a renewable resource. Immediately after the Stone Crabs are captured, the claws are removed and the crabs are thrown back into the water. A Stone Crab will grow new claws about four or five times in its lifetime. Pretty cool, and great for the environment.
Serving your Crab Claws: So Very Easy
These goodies are fully cooked and ready to eat. That means zero work for you. Keep crab claws in the coldest part of your refrigerator uncovered and un-cracked until you are ready to serve and dig in.
Here’s a cracking tip: place in a closed zip lock bag–this will protect from a potential mess. Using a wooden mallet, hit the claw in all three sections, hard enough to crack it open, but no so hard as to damage the delicate meat inside the shell. Practice a bit, you’ll get the hang of it, promise.
Stone Crab claws are often served chilled. They make a perfect, fun appetizer–jazz ‘em up with a selection of dipping sauces, like Fairway Cocktail sauce, fancy mustard, and this smooth, simple honey mustard goodness.
Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
5 tablespoons Fairway honey
3 tablespoons Fairway Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Serve with your Stone Crab Claws!
